- Takes care of the operational aspects concerning the protection for staff and population, related to the exposure to ionizing radiation for the activities carried out by Laboratori Nazionali del Sud.
- Collaborates with the Qualified Experts with regard to compliance and attributions related to the physical surveillance of radiation protection.
- Ensures the environmental dosimetry inside and outside the LNS and the personal dosimetry for workers exposed to ionizing radiation.
- Manages and maintains systems for safety and access control for radiation protection and ambient monitoring and take care the developments and updates.
- Assists the Management in fulfilling legal obligations related to the use of installations, devices and materials emitting ionizing radiation.
- Takes care the sources and the radioactive materials of LNS for their safety, detention, circulation, purchase and transport, as well as compliance with the rules and procedures for use both inside and outside the LNS.
- Assists the Management and the Qualified Experts for training and information on radiation protection of workers and implementing training programs.
- Takes care and manage the dosimetry archive and the documentation relating to the physical surveillance of radiation protection.
- Supervises the correct application of the rules or the provisions of the law on radiation protection.
- Collaborates with the Authorized Doctor and with the Prevention and Protection Service for the aspects concerning the medical radioprotection surveillance of exposed workers;
- Implements the technical and bureaucratic requirements necessary for compliance with the laws and rules of good practice.
- Maintains relations with the Health and Environment Service of the Central Administration, for aspects related to radiation protection.
