Photographs October 2006:
The large target chamber in the new experimental hall after arrival from the factory, October 2006.
Front view showing the sliding seal. Note that the chamber is upside-down: the long cylinder on the "top" contains the mechanism for the target ladder movement. Side view showing the large access flange with a viewing port.

Photographs April 2005:
The small target chamber "cameretta" is installed and ready for the first beam tests of April 27th and 29th 2005.
The "cameretta" target chamber, beam line and quadrupole magnet. Water cooling lines for the magnets are in the foreground. A panoramic view from the (blocked) East entrance to the experimental area. A small crane for lifting the focal plane detector is in the foreground.

Photographs 2004:
The spectrometer is taking shape.. In the pictures below you see the magnets mounted and the auxiliary equipment beginning to be assembled on the rotating platform in the new experimental area.
Taken early 2004. The shielding walls are just starting to be built in the background of the picture. Francesco Cappuzzello, Horia Petrascu, Chiara Nociforo, John Winfield, Giavanno Longo, Alberto Lazzaro, Massimo Piscopo and Angelo Cunsolo. July 2004. Taken from the shielding walls. The beam line from the accelerators is seen emerging in the top left of the picture. The yellow-painted structure above the spectrometer is the support tray for the cables from the axis of the platform (target location). Chiara Nociforo, Luciano Gasparini, Francesco Cappuzzello, Abdenbi Khouaja, Angelo Cunsolo, John Winfield.

Photographs taken in March & May 2004.
The spectrometer viewed from above. The photograph was taken standing on the shielding walls. The newly-installed focal plane detector. The gas handling system mounted on the spectrometer platform. A side access port to the exit chamber of the spectrometer is seen on the left.

December 2002: The magnets, coils and power supplies have arrived at LNS from DANFYSIK! In the pictures below you see the pole pieces, coils and the quadrupole magnet and other pieces (in packing cases) unloaded in the LNS new experimental area.
Angelo Cunsolo with packing cases for the vacuum chamber (right) and quadrupole magnet (left) behind. In the foreground is one of the dipole coil assemblies. Two of the dipole pole pieces (blue). Behind them is the rotating platform for the spectrometer (yellow) and quadrupole magnet (left) behind. John Winfield, Angelo Cunsolo and Francesco Cappuzzello standing behind one of the dipole coil assemblies. The etched PC-board visible in the foreground is the sextupole surface "correction" coil.
